Founder Of Conservatives Wants PM Boc Taken To Court For Poor Performance In Office

Senator Dan Voiculescu deems appropriate filing criminal charges against PM Emil Boc for his mismanagement of the economy and the ensuing social crisis. Article 249 in the Penal Code Voiculescu referred to as applicable to Boc's case sets an up to 10-year prison sentence for the public officials who negligently or wrongfully complete their public duties.

"The incompetence and lack of resolve in performing its duties that the Boc Executive showed plummeted the economy and impoverished the great majority of the Romanian population. If we consider the minimum mandatory taxation of companies, that alone took out of the market 150,000 companies. Someone has to pay for all these damages to private companies and individuals, and someone should be made accountable by law," Voiculescu said.

Voiculescu is also founder of the Conservative Party, or PC, in opposition.
